History of NNN
In the year of 1928, Welcome Wagon was organized adopting the old pioneer custom of cordial hospitality to modern day life. Welcome Wagon made calls to the homes of newcomers. Newcomer clubs, such as our own, are an outgrowth of the Welcome Wagon.
Through these clubs, members have a unique opportunity to take part in their community life, contribute their time for worthwhile charities and projects, and at the same time make a host of new friends.
As our club evolved to fit the needs of our community and membership, we found the Welcome Wagon bylaws were no longer completely appropriate for the club. So in 1991, the Norwalk Newcomers disaffiliated from Welcome Wagon International to become an independent club.
In 1996 we changed our name to Norwalk Neighbors and Newcomers to open up membership to anyone in the Norwalk community regardless of the length of time they’ve lived in Norwalk. Nevertheless, our clubs purpose and function continues as before.
It’s through Norwalk Neighbors and Newcomers that new and old members have the opportunity to take part in social, charitable, and civic events and at the same time make new friends.
